"I made up a story about young peoples refusal to get any pleasure out of working. This is also a film about people s first love affairs. It is a film that shows the first steps beyond ones education in the family. It is the story of two couples who meet each other thanks to computer matching. When they meet, the computer cards are inverted and so that the couples do not complement each other. Rather together they have a number of very similar attitudes. There is a very lyric couple and another one with strong suicidal tendencies. It is a story of failure, and of the suicide of one of the two couples and of the other couple's argument for the revolution." (Interview by Gérard Courant, Philippe Garrel, Studio 43, Paris 1983)

Philippe Garrel
Philippe Garrel was born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1948. He made his first short, Les enfants désaccordés, in 1964 at the age of 16 and quickly stood out for his radical approach to the cinema.
