Dean Robinson has been brought into a high-powered law firm headed by Edward Hooper, a veteran lawyer. Robinson is soon made a partner in the firm. Hooper invites Robinson to have dinner with the fabulously wealthy Terry Bidwell, an ex-football-player, the firm's top client and biggest pain in the neck. Hooper hopes that Robinson will lighten his load by bonding with Bidwell. The evening takes a surprising twist when Robinson learns that Biodwell's wife, Georgeanne, is his ex-college sweetheart. Robinson plans a rendezvous with Georgeanne. During their drive up the coast, he discovers that the past is gone and they are no more than old friends. When Robinson returns Georgeanne to the Bidwell house, he is taken apart by the hardpunching ex-All American football player. He is eventually called on the carpet by Hooper. Robinson's life takes yet another ironic turn when Bidwell dumps Hooper in favor of Robinson. A cocky group of fellow lawyers, begin to chastise Dean. If the group is against you, you're not long for the firm.

Peter Weller
Peter Weller was nominated for a Genie (the Canadian equivalent of the Oscar) for his performance in David Cronenbergs Naked Lunch. Weller has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas, studied for three years professionally in New York, and was inducted into the Actor's Studio by Lee Strasberg and Elia Kazan. Weller's starring credits in film include Sidney Lumet's Just Tell Me What You Want, Alan Parker's Shoot the Moon, Abel Ferrara's Cat Chaser, Shakedown, 50/50, Michael Tolkin's The New Age, and Robocop, directed by Paul Verhoeven. Weller's directorial debut received a 1993 Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short.
