The story of the film is set in the Great Hungarian Plain where everything is horizontal, where human settlements are at vast distances from one another. The heroes of the story live in a long abandoned base for agricultural machinery which has been cut off from any useful agricultural production. For them all values according to which they could determine the sense of their lives have ceased to exist. Everything has been dissolved by time and the periodical changes of the seasons. The feeling of desolation that annihilates everything is broken by one single desire, a desire that makes itself felt more and more strongly: to run away. They all make petty plans, and live under the illusion that by robbing and deceiving the others they can solve their own future. A sign of their fatal lack of self confidence is that they are unable to carry out their plane. In fact they are all waiting for a Messiah who will lead them out of these complicated everyday existence and save them from this torrential rain and mud that covers everything, one that will absolve them from their past sins.
