TROP DE BONHEUR
by Cédric Kahn
Expelled a few weeks from final high school exams, and condemned to take a technical certificate, Valérie wanders through the village with her best friend, Mathilde. They go for a swim in a nearby lake along with Kamel and his pal Didier. The four teenagers skim and spy on each other while the Midi sun beats down. Kamel has eyes only for Valérie. Mathilde has a crush on Didier. The group breaks up. The girls come across Brahim, Kamel's elder brother who drives around aimIessly with his friends Ahmed, Thierry and Solange. The girls are talked into the car to go dancing. Mathilde suggests they hold the party in her parents' villa, as they are away. They are later joined by Kamel and Didier. On foot. Intoxicated by music and alcohol, minds and bodies heat up. After a long night in the course of which new relationships open up, nothing wilI ever be the same...
"This film show how much one is conditioned by the origins and environment. Each one of the four main characters of the film fights against this predestination, refusing to accept it. This is what is beautiful about adolescente, the time when everything is stilI possible. We also wanted to tackIe the problem of integration, through the dispute between the two brothers of Arab origin. This story is that of difference within difference." (Cédric Kahn and Ismaël Ferroukhi).
