In August at the end of the nineteenth century Assunta, a young servant girl, kills her lover. In August, 1998, a woman writer wants to write her story. Past and present, imagination and reality intertwine with no sign of continuity. The writer finds her together with the characters of her story and they are at the same time living over a span of 100 years.

Andrea Liberati (Terni, 1953) is a teacher in the professional training course entitled "Directors for cinema and tv fiction" at the Roberto Rossellini Institute in Terni. Sara Rossi, the leading actress of Amour Fou, won the prize as best actress at the Cinema in Diretta competition.
