by Safi Faye
Country: Senegal
Year: 1975

In the form of a letter, written to whoever may receive it, the film tells the story of Ngor, a peanut farmer who, following a poor harvest, is forced to seek his fortune in the city. His illusions are soon shattered. Ngor meets only unemployment and scorn. He decides to return to the village and fight, together with the other peasants, to improve their farming techniques.
"I am pleased to have been able to give a voice to my people and to have attracted attention to the peasants in my village. I think that they have had an opportunity to forcefully express their problems" (S. Faye).
