The tragic story of a small talibé, a pupil at a Koranic school. In Senegal, children who cannot afford to pay for their schooling are recruited by the marabouts. Discipline is often very strict and the children are forced to beg for money for their upkeep. The small protagonist has to do the hardest chores in exchange for a few hours of teaching of the Koran.
