Year: 1932
Duration: 90'

Gialal, a police lieutenant, is in love with his cousin Bahigia, but he is the object of desire of Nazek, Bahigia's older sister. Since tradition requires that the older sister be married first, Gialal has to marry Nazek, while Bahigia is forced by her family to marry Buri'i. After discovering that her husband is a drug dealer and that he intends to kill Gialal, Bahigia falls ill. While Buri'i is killed in a gun battle with the police, the girl dies in Gialal's arms.

"This film is the sound version of the silent film Al dahaya, which was made in 1932. According to Bahigia Hafez in an interview published in the December 12, 1934 issue of the magazine 'Al Arusa', the silent film was 3,000 meters long. Only 600 meters of that film have survived, the only witness to Egyptian silent films produced up until that moment" (Samir Farid).
