Tribute to Kamal Al Sheikh

Al mukharribun

Sabotage
by Kamal Al Sheikh
Country: Egypt
Year: 1967
Duration: 108'

Adel is an architect in a public works construction company. After a school collapses because it was built with poor quality material, the architect Hamdi and his friend Muna manage to put the blame on Adel. His wife tries in vain to prove her husband's innocence. But Adel, who escapes from prison, obtains justice.

"Five years after the famous Socialist Decrees were issued in 1961, corruption in public companies began to be discussed. Without a doubt, Al mukharribun was the first film to talk about this problem. Since it was produced by a public production company, the film could appear to be a sort of self criticism. But I didn't make a political film. I don't like this definition. The film is involved, but I based it on my convictions" (Kamal Al Sheikh).
