After studying for several years at a university far from home, Paul returns to the atmosphere and the people he so loved as a child. He is particularly happy to embrace his mother and his friend Thierry, his companion in many a Saturday night drinking fest. But a few things have changed, and this makes him suffer. Paul discovers that Brigitte, the girl he has always been in love with, has gotten married and moved away. But Odile, Brigitte's younger sister, has remained and she has become very attractive. Paul takes over the farm his father had abandoned and begins a new life.

"In this film, I have tried to confront the problems of the mass departure from the countryside and the radical changes in farmers' lives. This is a realty which I know well and it surprises me - in fact, it hurts me - that it doesn't interest anyone anymore" (Yves Caumon).
