Pusan, 1976. Four adolescents, who have been friends since childhood, become street-wise by watching Bruce Lee movies and surviving everyday violence. Joon-suk, in particular, exerts a certain fascination on the other three, since his father is a criminal boss. Fall 1990. The four friends have grown up. Joon-suk decides to follow in his father's footsteps and controls various illicit businesses. Dong-su, on the other hand, has joined a rival gang. Sang-taek and Joong-ho helplessly look on as war erupts between the two former friends.

Kwak Kyung-taek

Kyung-taek was born in Korea, and in 1995 he graduated from New York University with a degree in film directing. The same year he directed a short film, A Story of a Military Prison, which won at the Seoul Short Film Festival. In 1997 he directed his first full-length movie, 3 P.M. Paradise, which was invited to many festivals. Chingu is his third fiction film; it premiered in Korea on March 31, 2001 and since then has sold more than seven million tickets, a true record.
