DÉRIVE GALLIZIO

DERIVING GALLIZIO
by Pietro Balla, Monica Repetto
Country: Italy
Year: 2000
Duration: 60'

Pinot Gallizio was, as it were, the pharmacist, fisherman, partisan, archeologist, pear wholesaler, candy man, aroma man, and alchemist, not to mention Pinot the histrionic and Pinot the ingenious experimenter. This is an attempt to "derive" the life of Pinto Gallizio, inventor of "industrial painting," friend of the gypsies, and founder of the Situationist International in the 1950s along with Debord, Jorn, Bernstein, Rumney and Simondo. We use the testimony of the "expelled" survivors - Ralph Rumney, Piero Simondo, and Giors Melanotte - and the recollections of Milva and Maria Lonzi.

"Twelve years ago we got hold of the first Italian biography of Pinot Gallizio. From that time we have written at least four screenplays that were related in one way or the other to the world of Pinot. Four years ago we ran into Giorgio Gallizio at a handball gym in Alba. Later we found the money to make Deriving Gallizio. Searching for Pinot we might have found our rosebud" (Pietro Balla, Monica Repetto).
