Tribute to Shadi Abdu Al Salam

El izz bahzala

Wealth is a Curse
by Togo Mizrahi
Country: Egypt
Year: 1937
Duration: 95'

In the poor neighborhood of Al Husseiniyya, in the old part of Cairo, the family of the Muslim Ibrahim has been living next door to the family of the Jew Salomon for thirty years. The sons of these two families, Adbu and Shalom, are best friends, to the point that they will share everything they achieve in life, in richness and in poverty.

"This film was produced in Egypt in 1937, during the rise of nazism and fascism in Europe, to show the peaceful cohabitation between Muslims and Jews. This cohabitation was sanctioned by the principles of the great popular Revolution of 1919 and by the constitution of 1923, which was approved following the political independence of Egypt (1922), and, after the Revolution, by public demand."
