MEZZANOTTE A MOSCA

MIDNIGHT IN MOSCOW

Country: Italy
Year: 2001
Duration: 58'

The elderly inhabitants of San Secondo, a city in the Parma area, re-revoke their little stories of passion for music on the day of the 100th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Verdi, who loved this little city so much. There are Carlo and Neto, the rival tenors. There are Nino, a Wagner aficionado, and Paolina, who recalls a Falstaff recital directed by Toscanini. There is Fratello, a self-taught singer who sings the song, Midnight in Moscow. This homage is completed when the local association, Corte dei Rossi, stages a scene from Il Trovatore, the opera that lingers over the town like a ghost.

"We have made this film to show that the world belongs to 90-year-olds and that young people are the ones who are dying. We have made this film because the simple things are still and, unfortunately, always the hardest things" (Giovanni Cocconi, Pietro Medioli).
