The car accident changed Tung-ching a lot. The life line on his left hand disappeared. A nurse told him that his existence was no longer controlled by destiny and that from now on everything would become unpredictable. Three months later, his father had a heart attack and the young man found himself obliged to take over the family's pawnshop. Eiko, his fiancée, who is fascinated by palmistry, would like to discover more about his life and his future, but Tung-ching isn't interested. He begins to go out with a client, nicknamed "I know".

Hsiao Ya-chuan
Hsiao Ya-chuan was born on December 20, 1967 in Taiwan, where he graduated from the Fine Arts Academy. In 1988 he began making short films which won numerous prizes in Taiwan. In 1994 he began a brilliant career in advertising, directing many television commercials which have won both national and international recognition. In 1999 he worked as assistant director to Hou Hsiao-hsien on the set of Flowers of Shanghai. Mirror Image is his debut full-length film.
