Toshi is 15 years old, and lives with his father, his mother and an older brother. His mother is regularly beaten by her husband and has lost all interest in her children. Toshi spends his time with his only remaining friend, the dog Pess. Even his guardian, Mrs. Tanuma, has distanced herself from him. When Saito, who is his age, dies, Toshi tries to commit suicide, but then changes his mind and decides to carry on despite the desperate situation.

Yoshikawa Hikaru
Yoshikawa Hikaru was born in 1980 in Tokyo. After graduating from Johoku Metropolitan High School, he enrolled at the Japan Academy of Moving Images, where he followed courses held by Watanabe Chiaki for two years. This film marks his debut as a director.
