1896. Jeff Webster, a cattle breeder, is traveling by sea with his herd of cattle, and is unjustly accused of homicide. He manages to avoid being captured thanks to the help of Rhonda Castle, who hides him in her cabin. But once he disembarks from the boat he is arrested by Sheriff Gannon. In jail, he meets Renée, the daughter of a doctor who is being persecuted by Gannon. Rhonda manages to get him released from jail and goes with him to Dawson, where she runs a saloon. But Jeff wants to get his cattle and returns to the city. The citizens are tired of Gannon's injustices, and offer his job to Jeff.

Anthony Mann

Anthony Mann (San Diego, CA, USA, 1906 - Berlin, Germany, 1967), born Emil Anton Bundmann, began his career, after having been an actor and theater manager, in 1938 as a collaborator of David O. Selznick. After making a low-budget noir and crime director, he became popular in the 1950s with some westerns starring James Stewart. He then dedicated himself to other genres with films The Glenn Miller Story (1954). In the 1960s he worked in Europe, creating blockbusters such as El Cid (id., 1961) and The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964).
