Kelly Reichardt

Kelly Reichardt (Miami, Florida), after making various Super8 videos at the Massachusetts College of Art, moved to New York in 1988, where she took part in low-budget productions with the independent directors Todd Haynes, Hal Hartley, David O. Russell, Mark Levine and Norman Rene. She returned to Miami in 1993 to direct her first full-length film, River of Grass, which was projected the following year at the Sundance Film Festival and was cited as one of the best films of 1995 by "the Boston Globe", "Village Voice", "Film Comment", and "San Francisco Guardian". In 1999, she directed Ode, inspired by Herman Raucher's novel Ode to Billy Joe, which she presented at the New York Video Festival, the Festival in Rotterdam and in Venice. She currently teachs film at New York University.
