A LIAR'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY - THE UNTRUE STORY OF MONTY PYTHON'S GRAHAM CHAPMAN 3D

A LIAR'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY - THE UNTRUE STORY OF MONTY PYTHON'S GRAHAM CHAPMAN 3D
by Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson, Ben Timlett
Country: UK
Year: 2012
Duration: 85'

When Graham Chapman, who is studying medicine at Cambridge, joins the Footlights theatrical company and meets John Cleese, his life could go in one of two ways: a brilliant career as a doctor who writes humorous pieces and acts on the side, or a full-time author, actor, declared homosexual and lifetime companion of David Sherlock. And, naturally, a member of Monty Python. This film is an attempt to tell his life through several animated shorts.

Declaration

film director

“It’s not a Monty Python film. Although most of the Pythons are in it, this is a Graham Chapman film. It’s by him, and about him. Python happens as part of the story, but so do other things in Graham’s life, like his love life and his drinking. In many ways, Graham embodies the lunatic spirit of Python, and this infuses the humour throughout this film. But it’s not Python, it’s Chapman. In keeping with the chaotic style of the narrative, the film uses different animation styles to illustrate different parts of his life”
