HAMLET²
by Felice Cappa
Country: Italy
Year: 2012
Duration: 90'

Capricious and conceited, Hamlet recounts his folly, as the orphaned son of a good father and the victim of a mother who has sold herself to a traitorous uncle, and the folly of Ophelia, so strong it pushes her to drown herself to be finally freed. The folly in 3D of a man destined to reign, but who mocks power and the court intrigues that seem to guide the lives of those around him, of those who are not able to laugh about this bizarre life, about death and the tragedy hovering above them.

Declaration

film director

“I am looking forward with curiosity to the reactions of the cinema public to a tri-dimensional vision of Hamlet², a strong and intense, aggressive and overbearing show at times. Passing from the ‘fourth wall’ to the third dimension is a remarkable leap for theatre. Unthinkable up to a few years ago, but capable nowadays of generating new scenarios in the relationship between theatre art and the new media.” (Andrée Ruth Shammah, head of the Teatro Franco Parenti)
