CALL GIRL

CALL GIRL
by Mikael Marcimain
Country: Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Finland
Year: 2012
Duration: 140'

Sweden, the late 1970s. Young Iris and a girlfriend of hers end up in a high-class prostitution ring whose clients are primarily politicians. It is a particularly delicate moment because, after years of governing, the Social Democrats risk losing the elections and the country is facing an economic crisis and a widespread change in mores. The actions of the governing class spark an investigation which also involves the two girls, who will have to decide which side they want to be on.

Declaration

film director

“When I started I thought I was doing a pure conspiracy thriller, strongly flirting with some of my favourite American films of the 1970s. Very plot inspired by a true political scandal in Stockholm in the mid 1970s. In a way, everything was in the script, but the more I got involved I felt I had to get into the grey zones of all the characters in the plot, letting them be contradictory, not clearly good or bad. It’s a personal social thriller about Sweden in a time of sexual liberation and confusion.”
