L'ESTATE DI BRUNO CORTONA

L'ESTATE DI BRUNO CORTONA
by Gloria de Antoni
Country: Italy
Year: 2012
Duration: 45'

A risky pass, a useless effort to brake and the dreams of boom-time Italy end on a cliff in Versilia, along with the Lancia Aurelia of impetuous Bruno Cortona/Vittorio Gassman and poor Roberto Mariani/Jean-Luis Trintignant. This is the dramatic ending of the 1962 movie The Easy Life by Dino Risi, a cornerstone of Italian-style comedies. But the people who helped make the film and those who loved it, what do they remember about its actual realization?

Declaration

film director

“I was inspired to make this documentary by the book which Oreste De Fornari wrote about The Easy Life twenty years ago, in which he analyzed it like a film-alphabet of Italy’s economic miracle. But after friends from the municipality of Rosignano Marittimo, which also includes Castiglioncello, assigned me the duty to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary with a documentary, right away I realized that the reminiscences of the people of Castiglioncello who were involved in various capacities in the filming back in the summer of ’62 would become the true subject of the film, also considering my partiality for the little stories of normal people.”
