Torn between the Alps and Milan, a city devoured by progress which, year after year, pushes him more and more to its outskirts, Renato Zucchelli is a one-of-a-kind person. He comes from a normal family which would have liked him to have an equally normal existence, but instead he has chosen the life of sheep farming and has become the last metropolitan shepherd. Renato, with his gestures and words, shows us how so-called “normality” is often created by distorting our roots and our true needs. So then, why not dream of leading an entire flock of sheep into Piazza Duomo, to symbolically recuperate a space that has become dehumanized?

Declaration
film director
“The film is the poetic and puzzling story of a metropolitan shepherd who, part fiction and part documentary, makes his way like a very personal Don Quixote among the buildings and the cars, the skyscrapers and the incomprehension of progress. A contemporary fable, halfway between a cartoon and a musical, it looks with indulgence on the limits of our society, which has lost its way because it has confused progress with happiness.”
