The blonde Heidi Hawthorne works as a DJ for a radio station in Salem, Massachusetts, known as the “city of the witches.” One day, she receives a wooden box by mail containing a vinyl record: she assumes it is from a local rock band searching for promotion, and she immediately listens to it. Surprisingly, however, the record starts playing backwards, emitting hypnotic waves that throw Heidi in a state of confusion, experiencing flashbacks of a past trauma. What is even more surprising is that the record becomes an immediate hit with the listeners. But in a place where witchcraft is still alive, one song is all it takes to open the gates of hell.

Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie (Haverhill, MA, USA, 1965), born Robert Bartleh Cummings, was the singer of the metal band White Zombie until 1998, when he started his solo career. In 2003 he made his debut as a director with the movie House of 1000 Corpses, which was then followed by other horror movies like The Devil’s Rejects (2005), Halloween - The Beginning (2007), the fake trailer segment Werewolf Women of the S.S. from the movie Grindhouse (2007), Halloween II (2009), and the episode L.A. for the TV series CSI: Miami (2010).

“As the movie progressed, I wanted the vibe of the whole thing to have impact on the audience because that’s how I would feel when I watched David Lynch, Cronenberg or a Kubrick movie. I wanted people to feel like they were in the movie for the journey rather than just watching images that are spooky.”
