A GUARDIA DI UNA FEDE

A GUARDIA DI UNA FEDE
by Andrea Zambelli
Country: Italy
Year: 2023
Duration: 103'

The story of the Curva Nord, the North Stands, of the Atalanta soccer team, from 1993 to today, recounted through the eyes of Claudio “Bocia” Galimberti, one of the most charismatic figures of Bergamo's fanatical supporters. The movie retraces the last thirty years of his life, which is closely tied to the events involving the North Stands and the world of die-hard fans in general, which is undergoing frenetic and profound evolution. From the clashes during the 1990s to the whirlwind of repression that led to the trials and his exile from Bergamo, from the thousands of people traveling to the away games to the attempt to turn soccer into an Orwellian show to follow on TV, and all the way to the bleachers emptied of spectators during Covid.

Declaration

film director

“To people who grew up in Bergamo, sooner or later you'll find yourself at the Curva, and to many people from my generation, it was a rite of passage from adolescence to adulthood. I became familiar with this reality in 1994, and I began my path as a filmmaker by trying to recount this world. This process of observation using a movie camera has never stopped, all the way up to today. A guardia di una fede is the synthesis of this journey through time. The non-stop story of a rebellious reality, dedicated to a cause: the freedom to be the grain of sand that blocks the gears.”
