A fantastic and gothic story that repeats itself daily in a country house. A true fairy tale. A ghost story set among statues, sculptures, objects and people that keep moving around in that house. A cat, come from the mist, that can see through the haze of reality. Elisabetta Sgarbi’s new work stems from everyday life, from the presence of a cat, from the care for a house, from her own’s and parent’s memory. It is a work whose words and shapes are taken from an extraordinary British narrator and illustrator, Edward Carey, who, just as the cat, from the Northern fog, knows how to pierce the hidden miseries of reality. It is a work, also, that feeds on the most diverse materials: old pictures, Super 8 home movies, drawings, graphic inventions, distant musical notes, enigmatic meows, shreds of daily life, helpless but talking objects. A visual and sound collage that travels between past and present, breaking indeed the gap between past and present, and that makes "present and alive" the ghosts of the past.

Elisabetta Sgarbi
(Ferrara, Italy) is the creator and director of the publishing house La nave di Teseo. She created and for nineteen years has been the artistic director of the festival La Milanesiana, dedicated to literature, music, cinema, science, art, philosophy, and theatre. Since 1999 she has been the director and producer of her films, which were often presented at the Torino Film Festival.
