MISS POLLY HAD A DOLLY
by Pietro Lafiandra, Flavio Pizzorno, Andrea Rossini
In the Sonora desert, inside a bunker equipped to cryogenically conserve the bodies of some dead millionaires, two people - guards and lovers - are discussing the state of one of the bodies: her husband. Images of the frozen body awaiting technology that can bring it back to life and the disembodied voices of the protagonists, produced through artificial intelligence, create a ghostly space, a limbo in which human and mechanical seem to blend within the same flow of consciousness

Declaration
film director
“Miss Polly Had a Dolly was generated entirely through artificial intelligence. No image was made by shooting or using traditional animation techniques. No voice was recorded or sampled: the vocal parodies of Scarlett Johansson and Peter Weller were cloned from neural networks. Algorithms were also used during the screenwriting phase and when making the soundtrack. This short is the result of us dialoguing with machines.”
