Through the voices of the writer Melania Mazzucco, art historians Raffaella Morselli and Belinda Granata, literary critic Arnaldo Colasanti, and the director of the Strega Prize Stefano Petrocchi, the documentary delves into women's relationship with power and time. It's a relationship where nothing is to be underestimated, not even appearance, as the art of presentation is a consciousness of dressing.

Anna Testa
(Milan, Italy, 1965) after graduating in Modern Literature with a focus on Performing Arts, she pursued studies in Cultural Anthropology. She is registered with the Order of Journalists. In 2008, she directed the documentary Buonasera Aroldo buonasera Giuliana a finalist for the Imaie Award – Special Mention at the Terre di Siena Film Festival and premiered nationally at the 2008 Festival della Fiction. She contributed to the production of the documentaries Giorgio Albertazzi, ritratto d’artista and Pietro Perugino, il pittore rivoluzionario, the latter directed by Pappi Corsicato. In 2023, she directed the documentary Regine di quadri.

“The history of women's emancipation, in my opinion, should be studied through everyday life, the harsh law of daily life. Until 1945 in Italy, a woman was either a mother, daughter, or wife to a husband or to God, and that women until that date couldn't sign documents—for example, they couldn't purchase a house on their own. We realize how fragile the ground beneath our feet is. This is why the exceptional lives of women like Bellonci and d'Este continue to attract the world's attention. Contrasting the lives of these two women was a natural progression, a stream of consciousness that transcends the centuries because it carries the same burden that crushes the existence of all, without the boundaries of time and space, to reunite in unison with one thought: that of our never-concluded Renaissance.”
