MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE

Stephen Frears

(Leicester, Gb 1941), tra i più importanti registi britannici contemporanei, si è distinto per la varietà di stili, temi e generi. Dopo una lunga attività televisiva, si è affermato nel cinema negli anni ’80 con My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), prima di realizzare a Hollywood i celebri Le relazioni pericolose (1988), vincitore di tre premi Oscar, e Rischiose abitudini (1990). Tra i suoi film più noti, The Snapper (1993), The Queen (2006), Oscar alla migliore attrice protagonista per Hellen Mirren, Philomena (2013), Florence (2016) e Vittoria e Abdul (2017). Ha diretto anche apprezzate serie televisive, tra cui A Very English Scandal (2018), per cui ha vinto un Bafta per la miglior regia.
