Un naufrago viene lasciato su un’isola dell’Oceania, popolata da strani uomini barbuti e balbettanti e da un’unica ragazza sinuosa come una pantera. Qui vive e lavora ai suoi misteriosi esperimenti il dottor Moreau, affabile e minaccioso. Dalla «casa del dolore» provengono spesso grida strazianti. Dal romanzo di H. G. Wells, un horror sensuale e brutale, dominato dallo scienziato-padrone-dio Charles Laughton. Proibito all’epoca, poi spesso sottovalutato.
